Eve Life Meets Real Life

So I was in the local games shop today, and got talking with a friend I don't see very often. He's just recently broke his WoW addiction and gone on to Warhammer. I was attempting to lure him towards Eve (we have cookies!), and a random guy nearby said, 'Who's the Eve geek over here?' So, yeah, I said, 'Me,' and waited for him to say more, maybe mention what he does or some such. He was clearly waiting for me to do the same, because he said something about people saying who they fly with and what alliance they support and other people going either 'Urgh!' or 'Yay!' I suggested that I'm relatively neutral and that I'm in the Hellcats, and he responds, 'Yeah, I've heard of them.'

And then he edged away rather quickly...

Creepy. I suggest you check out an eve-meet for any initial EvE in RL.

Though I think he was probably just bullshitting about having heard of Hellcats, it's a funny story, LOL! You shoulda made claws with your hands and hissed at him for fun.

I actually hate hearing someone speak IRL about Eve. You almost feel obliged to butt in because they cannot possibly be talking about anything else.

Then you realise they are full on WEIRDOS and you wish you just walked by...

Well, there's a difference between someone speaking generally about Eve ('What's your name? I'll drop you an Evemail') and someone speaking specifically about Eve ('Dooood, there were sooo many caps out there, we got DD'd three times and the FC was going ballistic...!')

That being said, it's how I met Tineladia and Etali when I was at EIEF earlier this year... and when you're at a game devs convention, geekery is perfectly acceptable ^_^

You've probably blown him up once..... (or one of the other Hellcat girls have).

That said, I've only met one other Eve player in RL (other than my friend(s) who I convinced later to give it a go).
